A new landscape for Residential property owners: taking the ARK message to RESI Convention

It’s been a tumultuous couple of years for Residential sector stakeholders since the Hackitt Review was first announced. There’s still a great deal of uncertainty in the industry as property owners and managers look to see what new standards and legal requirements will come into force.

As we stand on the cusp of a new landscape for property owners and residents alike, Ark Workplace Risk will be on hand to lend its expertise in a roundtable session at the upcoming RESI Convention in Wales.

At the show

Organised by leading industry news title, Property Week, the RESI Convention has for several years been a must-attend event for those in the Residential sector. A first-class line-up of speakers are slated once again this year, including new Minister for Housing and Planning, Esther McVey. They’ll be sharing their expertise and insight into the latest market and policy trends to illuminate the pressing issues of the day.

As an expert in risk and compliance, Ark Workplace Risk will be there with its own take

on what the future will hold according to this year’s conference theme: our “brave new mixed-up world”.

Our stand number is R8 – make sure to pop in and say hi to our team!

A brave new world

We’ll be focusing on the potential new data accessibility requirements property owners and managers may soon be forced to comply with. At Ark Workplace Risk we believe improved two-way communication is absolutely vital to restore trust between Residents and landlords/property managers in the wake of the Hackitt Review. Property owners able to engage effectively with Residents via social media and other channels will be best placed to make the most of this new landscape — one in which Residents will increasingly have a stronger voice to challenge safety issues and make their presence felt.

That’s not all. We’ll also be looking at the impact of potential new legal requirements for improved safety at design, construction and letting stages, and how these may affect investment and revenue. Property owners will need to be registered, and risk losing licenses if they fail in their new obligations. Past performance will be taken into account and may therefore end up impacting future business plans.

In short, we’re heading towards a new era of scrutiny for residential property owners which will come with a new set of risks that must be managed. This is where expert help from third-party organisations like Ark Workplace Risk can be invaluable. As always, those Residential property stakeholders keen to tackle these issues up-front will put themselves in the best position going forward. They may even be able to use their proactive engagement with the new industry proposals for competitive advantage.

The roundtable will be chaired by Ark Workplace Risk Senior Director, David Hills FRICS, FRIISM, MIFireE, RSP, OSHCR, AsEPS. Drinks and lunch will be provided. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
