Purpose of the position:

As a Senior Fire Safety Specialist at Ark Workplace Risk, you will be responsible for working with a diverse range of clients, providing fire specialist consulting in the built environment.


Key accountabilities:

  • Create fire strategy solutions for clients within the built environment and development (offices, shopping centres, retail, business park offices, high rise, residential and property development environment)
  • Design fire management plans
  • Undertake fire risk assessment, type 1,2,3 and 4
  • Design and present fire strategies in line with client requirements and regulatory requirements
  • Design client programs and execute for preparedness tests for emergencies or safety events and test them
  • Providing coaching and support to other consultants with regards to technical fire advice
  • Responding to specific ad-hoc fire specialist requests from clients as required

 Skills & Experience:


  • Extensive experience undertaking fire risk assessments across a range of built environments and developments
  • Expert understanding of the framework of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, fire safety regulations 2006
  • Strong work ethic, creative problem solving and interpersonal skills, research and report writing abilities and good knowledge of the regulations
  • Demonstrated successful track record all the above key responsibilities
  • FIFireE or MIFireE desirable, GIFireE as minimum required
  • BSc in Fire Safety Engineering or Fire Engineering
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and business prioritisation with ease
  • Strong relationships management experience, paired with the ability to support clients with complex, contentious and critical matters


  • Enforcement background
  • Expert witness experience/court attendance experience
  • Experience with international interpretation of fire safety

 Additional requirements

  • This position will mainly be based in (and around) London, however will require national (and at times international) travel from time to time, so it is essential that the successful incumbent is available and willing to accommodate this
  • Full UK drivers licence with a clean driving record
