Health & Safety fines to increase drastically under new, tougher guidelines

Under tougher sentencing guidelines proposed by the Sentencing Council for England and Wales (SCEW), organisations convicted of corporate manslaughter could face fines of up to £20m.   In addition, according to the SCEW, punishments for organisations and individuals found guilty of other health and safety (including food safety and hygiene) offences will also be substantially increased.
